Benefits

Develop skills in creative interpretation, performance and art production that lead to top college art and music programs.
Participate in juried and/or judged art shows, contests and projects, winning recognition and honors from organizations such as the National Society of Arts and Letters, the Arts Education Partnership and the Congressional Art Show.
Participate in performing choral or instrumental ensembles at various venues locally, regionally and nationally, both adjudicated performances and at special events.
Access top quality instruction and opportunity for achievement in Advanced Placement Studio, Digital and Music Theory courses. Student scores in 2014-2015 in offered courses averaged 4.5 on a 5.0 scale.

Explore and experience the fine arts through trips to museums, festivals, and special events. In the past we have travelled to NYC and Florida, in addition to Washington, DC and Baltimore, as well as created public art in Frederick and other venues.

 

Requirements

 

Art Requirements
4 art classes minimum, to include one level 2 course
1 AP course or art internship
Membership in the National Art Honors Society for 1 year minimum
3 service hours per semester for a total of 24 service hours by graduation (this is adjusted for students joining in their junior and senior year)
Attendance at mandatory lunchtime meetings. (3 per year)
Academy of Fine Arts portfolio submitted or updated at the end of each year

Music Requirements
1 ensemble each year (4 years total)
AP Music Theory
Membership in Tri-M Honor Society for 1 year minimum
3 service hours per semester for a total of 24 service hours by graduation (this is adjusted for students joining in their junior and senior year)
Attendance at mandatory lunchtime meetings ( 3 per year)
Academy of Fine Arts portfolio of accomplishments submitted or updated at the end of each year
